Traditional automotive manufactures are racing to catch-up with the EV revolution.
In the race of their lives, BMW and the auto industry are scrambling to transition into the EV future. Tesla successes has shown the traditional car industry that the days of the old internal combustion engine powered cars are numbered. Even ‘Big Oil’ companies such as Total, Shell and BP have seen the writing on the wall and are now installing EV fast charging infrastructure at their highway Roadhouse petrol stations.
BMW management have undertaken some interesting tactics to motivate staff to embrace the EV focus of BMW. Recent staff training has used the massive impact of Tesla on the automotive industry as a scare tactic to emphasise their ‘iNext’ program. Training included virtual reality (VR) technology to help staff immerse themselves into BMW’s EV future.
BMW’s EV sales are accelerating and the next generation of smart plug in BMW models is well underway.
Staff are getting the clear message……….. Innovate or disappear!
