The Chevy Bolt is to be marketed in Europe as the ‘Opal Ampera-e’
The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV will go on sale in the USA either late this year or early in 2017, but marketing has already kicked up a gear in Europe for the new long range mass market EV.
- Range of the EV is now reported to be 380km or (238 miles)
Chevrolets’ European brand is Opal and the marketing team has started to get potential customers in Europe excited about this brilliant all electric car. They released a short promo ad to show how quick the new EV is from a standing start.
Remember Tesla’s Model 3 launch in March when Elon Musk stated that the Model 3 would have outstanding performance. ” At Tesla we don’t make slow cars”. Well it would seem that this may have inspired the Chevy/Opal team to excite those who love the performance aspect of EV’s.
A smart move by the team at Opal to attract those customers away from Tesla. Particularly the ones who don’t want to wait until late 2017 or early 2018 to drive a Model 3. At the moment Tesla are expecting 340km plus range or ( 215 miles +). A little short of the Bolt’s range but Tesla always come up with surprises and we expect the Model 3 will achieve closer to 400km or 250 miles. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
Here’s the ‘Opal Ampera-e’ ad. We think it’s brilliant. We love fast cars and particularly fast Plug-In Cars.
