Mercedes Benz will now launch 10 new electric car models by 2022.
Mercedes Benz is making moves to regain lost ground in the new generation of smart electric car development race. Management at Mercedes have announced that they are shortened their target date to launch 10 models of electric vehicles using the new EQ platform. Instead of 2025 the new target is 2022.
The world of plug in vehicle development with long range battery technology is heading into overdrive. Particularly with the premium brand manufacturers in Europe. Tesla’s success with the launch of the mass market Model 3 and of course the Model S which continues to grab a huge proportion of the premium car sales market volume from Benz, BMW, Audi, Porsche and others, has the traditional brands scrambling to catch up.The new 2022 target date will still see Benz well behind the competition and not just Tesla. Jaguar, Volvo and numerous EV start-up’s are all in a race to excite the car buying public with the new generation of smart plug in transport models.
