Goodbye Diesel Powered Heavy Transport.

Nikola Motors is to heavy transport industry as Tesla Motors is to the passenger car EV market.

Based in Utah in the USA, Nikola Motors has a vision similar to Tesla Motors but theirs is to revolutionise the trucking industry by producing hybrid–electric trucks that are more powerful, and efficient than the current old 20th Century dirty diesel powered vehicles.

Heavy transport customers lodge a deposit with Nikola Motors to pre-order their vehicle and then the process of building their truck can commence. Currently Nikola Motors has over 7,000 orders for their clean long haul Semi’s so the company is very busy meeting customer demand.

These 21st Century clean smart trucks which include autonomous drive technology (ie: one driver can control 5 trucks in convoy), will go a long way to completing the story for cleaning up the road transport industry.

Nikola trucks have a drivetrain that combine the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), fuelled turbine Hybrid technology powering a 320kWh battery pack which in turn powers six electric motors providing 2,000 horsepower or 1,491 kilowatts power.

Nikola Motors truck specification statistics have some impressive numbers.

  • 6X6 100% ELECTRIC DRIVE
  • ZERO IDLE
  • MANY TIMES CLEANER THAN DIESEL ENGINES
  • 1/2 THE FUEL COST PER MILE COMPARED TO DIESEL
  • 3,700 FT. LBS TORQUE
  • 2,000 HORSEPOWER
  • 1,200 MILES RANGE
  • 320 kWh BATTERY
  • REGENERATIVE BRAKING
  • NO COMPETITION
  • NEVER PLUG IN – TURBINE CHARGES BATTERIES AUTOMATICALLY WHILE DRIVING
